Need an energy boost?

Did you know Red Bull have had to pay out millions in court cases because Red Bull doesn't actually give you wings? Yeh I thought that would be a given too but the Americans love a good lawsuit don't they? *rolls eyes* Pesky Americans. Winglessness aside, Red Bull's side effects have long been the subject of controversial debate but with the hectic lifestyles we live today, we need a little help on the energy front sometimes!

Madonna and Cheryl Cole have been fans for a couple of years, this year’s X Factor contestants are swearing by them, and now, available exclusively at Aesthetically You, the B-12 Booster shot has arrived in Liverpool. But what the hell is it?

Vitamin B-12 is one of the most important vitamins that our bodies need to function at our peak levels and is a main source of internal energy – basically, if you want to get shit done, you need your B-12. Alcohol and stress can deplete the body of it and if you don’t have enough of it, you can feel low, rundown and lethargic. (Yet another reason to get rid of anyone in your life stressing you out and driving you to drink.)

A quick Booster shot is an injection of B12 that promises to be the fastest and most efficient way to deliver rehydration and wellness agents via a direct introduction into the blood stream. Unlike with beverages and oral vitamins, the body absorbs 100% of it and the results can last for days.

I decided that there was no better time to test out the pure energy booster than during the festive season; a time when stress and increased alcohol intake is a given (when your annoying ‘aunt’ is questioning just why you haven’t got a nice fella yet, I find it best to be at least two thirds full of mulled wine.)

I called into Aesthetically You and had a quick chat with the friendly (and very knowledgeable) Michelle, who informed me about all the benefits of the injections (and goss which celebs have had a little boost). I was surprised with just how quick the whole procedure is – if you’re not a chatterbox, like me, then you can be in and out in five minutes. It’s a quick jab to the top of your arse and that’s all there is to it. It’s important to note that there is no need to moon the lovely Michelle, it’s just at the very top of your bum so no need to flash your ass (unless you want to show off the result of your squats, don’t let me stop you).

I must admit, I was a bit dubious of this before I got it – I’m not one for energy drinks (Monster looks like liquidised shit) and I still can’t believe that people are willing play Russian roulette with unregulated T5 tablets for a bit of buzz to whizz through the to do list. But the B12 boost is perfectly safe and healthy and, for me, had no side effects. Over the next few days I had a hectic schedule of work, appointments and family visits, and, for the first time in a long while, didn’t feel the need to nap or snooze my alarm – it was pretty amazing. Of course, nothing can ever replace a healthy balance diet and all that, but let’s face it, only Gwyneth Paltrow can manage to keep that up all year round. For just £29 a go, the B12 boost is perfect for when you’ve been burning the candle at both ends.
